SEGA Baywatch Pinball Machine, built in April 1996, and restored in 2018. I bought this, not working, around 9 months ago and have since painstakingly restored this to the best possible condition. The cabinet has been touched-up rather than using decals, to retain as much of the original machine as possible. All plastics are originals, and some spares are included with the listing. A New Old Stock translite is fitted.
The circuit boards are all original and in excellent condition, with no corrosion and have been cleaned in an isopropyl alcohol bath. A set of new flipper rubbers (black) are included, with pink ones currently fitted. A spare set of black leg bolts is included. The coin box and backbox locking key are included. A fairly scruffy, but complete manual is included, along with some large format schematics.
Also included is the original ROM chip, and an upgraded ROM chip which has aftermarket code running that fixes some bugs in the original software, makes the game rules better, etc. The DMD (display) is original and works perfectly. A number of aftermarket displays are now available, including a full colour display. The entire machine has been stripped, down to screws, nuts and bolts, each piece cleaned, polished, serviced, and reassembled.
All coils have been re-sleeved. New pop bumper brackets and rings.
The wiring loom has been removed and cleaned. The cabinet has been resprayed inside, and the original artwork has been touched up with an airbrush, and clear coated. The play-field has been stripped, cleaned, given several layers of waxes and polishes. All the bulb holders have been replaced.
LEDs have been fitted, but only on the general illumination (avoids stripping the machine to replace blown bulbs); all other bulbs have been left as incandescent, although could be easily swapped for LEDs, depending on preference. The play-field side rails, cabinet side rails, legs and lock bar, and other parts have all been re-powder coated with the original black'crackle' finish, which is a perfect match to the original. The gold wireforms have been dipped, stripped, and electroplated and then clear-coated to restore the original finish. There are two common problems with these machines; power to the DMD causing display issues, and overheating of the General Illumination connectors.
By upgrading the connectors, and servicing the power board, reflowing the solder joints, etc, this has been made as reliable as possible; there are some youtube videos online of US-based restorers who have done the same. Lexan washers have been fitted to protect the plastics, and leg/bolt protectors have both been fitted. This process can be nerve wracking for the uninitiated, but it's standard practice in the community; please do some research online if you're unsure. You are also welcome to collect in a suitable vehicle; again, please research this if unsure. I don't think there's much else to say, but please feel free to ask any questions, and look at my feedback. The item "Baywatch pinball machine Sega 1996" is in sale since Sunday, July 1, 2018.
