I have owned this game for 20 years but only played a few games before storing it. As a result it has had very low use for the age and looks like a 8 year year old machine, not 28! I recently fixed the faults that it had all those years ago, replaced some broken rubbers and listed, you might have seen it.
The feedback I got was it needed work, although it played perfectly, people understandably want games completely "shopped" or they need work. I have now replaced all the bands, any blown game bulbs, flashers and back box bulbs. Info for the pinball geeks, I have also replaced broken EOS switches, a worn pawl and the back box lock and lift bar.
The game has no errors on boot up and no credit dot. Condition wise, the cabinet is very good but not perfect, it has some scrapes and scratches, as they all do, but less than most 8 years worth! The artwork has some fading on the front and around the corner for about a foot (see pics), hardly any marks though and plenty of red still on the cabinet. As pinball collectors will know, red is the first colour to fade and I would bet this is the best ORIGINAL cabinet in the country. The translight is also very nice, there is one hairline scratch if you look closely though the "A" apart from that is as new. The dot-matrix is, I would have to say, perfect.
No fade or ghosting and of course all dots work and are bright. The PCB's are also in great condition (see pic of close up of CPU board under the batteries area, it's like new, often there is corrosion damage here).
It comes with the original fish topper, which works (flaps during the game) this is easy to disconnect if you want. Lastly the playfield is in great condition as of course it has not had decades of play, and these machines are "diamond coated" it also has the factory option mylar stickers.I have gone into detail because I have bought a few machines over the years and often, listed as "working" but with a short description, turn out to be "working, but not properly or need an extensive service". Of course the machine can be viewed if you arrange with me and come to Cardiff, or judge condition on the pictures. I have taken some of the pics while servicing with the ramps off, so the playfield can be seen better.
It is of course all now complete. You will need a big hatchback, estate car or van. I can help shift if picked up 7th or 8th, I'm due an operation on the 9th so after that will just be watching! As you probably know, these machines are 100KG plus so need at least 2 fit people to move. The item "FISH TALES PINBALL MACHINE Superb original condition dry stored 20 years" is in sale since Thursday, August 27, 2020.
